Another milestone for Lions Club of Tumby Bay & District.
Tumby Lions Club Reports Successful Fundraising from Sale and Clearance Sale Auction Initiatives
The Lions Club of Tumby Bay & District is proud of the results of a new opportunity with the successful outcomes of two recent fundraising events, marking a promising new avenue to support the club’s community projects and charitable activities.
The club organised a huge garage sale in July at the home of Denver Backstrom, featuring a wide assortment of household items and goods. This event not only helped clear valuable space but also generated a strong financial return, providing a boost to the club’s resources.
From the offering the club selected a number of pieces of equipment that would be of value to the newly established Men’s Shed and provided these at a minimum cost.
On Sunday 3rd August Lions again supported the Edillilie clearance sale. Featuring an enormous range of tools, equipment, storage and machinery goods from the Edillilie workshops. Auctioneer Wilbur William presided over the sale of just under 200 lots.
The auction exceeded expectations, delivering a pleasing gross return, further underpinning the club’s fundraising efforts.
Adding to the community spirit, attendees contributed an additional $400 towards the Royal Flying Doctor Service. These funds were specifically raised through the purchase of a diverse collection of books, manuals, and novels, reflecting the broad interests and generosity of the audience.
“The combined success of the garage sale and auction demonstrates the commitment of our community and members to support local initiatives,” said a spokesperson for the Tumby Lions Club. “We are excited to explore these new fundraising avenues to continue our service and outreach in Tumby Bay and District.”
The Tumby Lions Club extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated items, participated, and supported these events, celebrating the spirit of community cooperation and generosity.
The Tumby Lions Club is dedicated to serving the needs of Tumby Bay and surrounding regions through community projects, charitable fundraising, and local support initiatives. The club actively engages in diverse activities to improve the well-being of residents and uphold the Lion’s motto: “We Serve”.
